Mitch
Sattler joined Gulfstream on May 13, 2009 after several
months of exposure to the company through a consulting role.
Mr. Sattler has over 22 years of experience in property insurance
related industries. Prior to joining Gulfstream he was employed
by Risk Management Solutions Inc. (“RMS”) for
a period of 14 years where he was responsible for overseeing
many functions. In addition to leading many business segment
teams, Mr. Sattler was responsible for starting the RMS Western
Region office which grew to over 20 employees who performed
various functions for RMS. Most recently, he was the Vice
President of the Public Policy Group which entailed leading
a team that dealt with issues extenuating from public uses
of catastrophe models. In this role, Mr. Sattler performed
many speaking engagements including providing expert witness
testimony in several rate hearing cases. In addition to expert
witness testimony, Mr. Sattler provided testimony to numerous
public entities such as the Government Accountability Office
(GAO), Congressional Budget Office (CBO), National Association
of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the Florida House of Representatives
and several legislative committee meetings.
Prior to RMS, Mr. Sattler
spent 8 years at RLI Insurance Company where he held several
positions all relating to the management of catastrophe risk.
He was involved in product pricing, portfolio management,
ceded reinsurance, and introduced and managed a residential
earthquake program which was developed with catastrophe models
as the core of an automated pricing and underwriting system.
Mitch Sattler earned a Bachelors
of Business Administration with emphasis on Management from
the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Masters of
Science degree in Statistics from Louisiana State University.
