Tim Beard
joined Gulfstream Property and Casualty Insurance Company
on August 8, 2005. He has over 15 years in the insurance and
accounting industries and received his certification as a
CPA from the State of Tennessee in 2000.
Through the various positions Tim has held over the years,
he has acquired a broad knowledge of the insurance accounting
industry including Statutory, GAAP and tax reporting.
Tim began his
career in the insurance industry at Merastar Insurance Company
in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on a part-time basis while completing
his B.S. degree in Business Accounting at the University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga. After working at Merastar for seven
years, during which time he worked his way up from a staff
accountant’s position to Associate Manager, Tim took
a position at Petty & Landis, P.C., a public accounting
firm, where he performed audit and tax work. He went to QualSure
Insurance Corporation in Sarasota, Florida in November 2002
where he was responsible for reviewing the financial statements
and completing account reconciliations for the company’s
outsourced accounting operations. He rejoined Merastar Insurance
Company managing the accounting and finance functions after
leaving QualSure in 2004. At Merastar, he had responsibility
for filing the statutory annual and quarterly statements,
preparing the GAAP financial statements, calculating and preparing
federal income tax filings, oversight of investment reporting,
and running the day-to-day operations of the accounting and
finance functions of the Company.
